Types of Acro Classes offered

Tiny tots Acro 1: 45 minute (Ages 3-6) Basic motor skills and coordination are the focus of this class. Students will learn these skills through basic jumps, walks, and rolls. Students will also learn a basic introduction to body awareness, and cartwheels.

Beginner Acro 2: (45 minutes) This class is for the students who are new to Acro, ages 7 & up. This class will focus on flexibility, handstands, standing and running cartwheels, bridges, balance & upper body strength.

Intermediate Acro 3: (60 minutes) This class is for the serious tumbler. In this class the students will work on flexibility, conditioning skills, strength moves, running skills, advanced tricks without a spotter, RO BHS, and standing BHS, etc.

Required attire for Acro: a biketard, leotard with shorts, leotard, and shorts with sports bras. No baggie clothing for safety reasons. Hair must be secured back for safety reasons also. All items are available at the studio.

 

Types of Dance Classes Offered

Tap & Ballet: 45 minute (Ages 3-4, 5-9) Our Tap/Ballet classes consist of students learning a variety of tap steps, ballet steps, taking turns in class, how to behave in a class room environment, and short dances of both styles.

Ballet/Lyrical:  60 minute (Ages 10 & up) Our Ballet/Lyrical classes consist of students learning French terminology of ballet steps, and performing these steps in class.  They will also learn leaps and turns across the floor, as well as pirouettes (turns in place).  The range of terms, leaps, and turns depends on each child’s age.

Tap: 60 minutes (Ages 10 & up)  Make music with your feet!  Our Tap classes consist of students learning an awareness of beat, timing and rhythm. This is the style of dance where syncopated sounds are created with the toe and heel using tap shoes.  Emphasis is placed on clarity of tap sound, weight shifts and rhythms.

Jazz: 60 minutes (Ages 10 & up) Our Jazz classes consist of students learning French terminology of Jazz steps, and performing these steps in class.  Leaps and turns across the floor, as well as pirouettes (turns in place) will be taught.  A short dance is taught to a more up tempo song. 

Jazz/Hop: 45 minutes (Ages 5-9) This class is all about fun for the young dancers. They will learn basic jazz steps and terminology, along with music counting and study with a little bit of hip hop flavor added in. Some items taught are leaps, turns, working as a group, and how to ‘bounce’ with the music.

Strength/Condition: 60 minutes (Ages 10 & up) Our Strength/Condition classes consist of students learning muscle control, body awareness, and how their muscles work.  Stretching, Pilates exercises, and weights are some of the things this class will focus on. 

Required attire for Dance: girls - leotards with shorts or skirts, biketard, leotard, tights for winter, appropriate dance shoes. Boys – bike shorts, tee shirt, appropriate dance shoes. All items are available at the studio.
